MECHANICAL ENGINEER

The ideal candidate has the following experience, education or qualifications:

  • Experience in engineering and designing any of the following mechanical systems:
    • HVAC Systems, including building load calculations, energy simulation and analysis, equipment sizing and selection, steam and hydronic heating, chilled water cooling and ducted air distribution systems.
    • Plumbing Systems, including domestic hot and cold water, sanitary waste and vent, acid waste and vent, and storm water systems. Experience should also include domestic water heating, sump and sewage ejector sizing and selection.
    • Temperature Control Systems, including pneumatic and electronic actuated systems. Direct Digital Controls and have a good working knowledge of systems options and control strategies.
  • Having passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, PE preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • A thorough understanding of the coordination aspects of all design disciplines and how they impact the project.
  • Team-oriented problem solving skills and decision-making ability.
  • The ability to organize work and multi-task.
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic and flexible.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or an engineering-related curriculum from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience specific to building systems.

MECHANICAL ENGINEER - ENTRY LEVEL

Working within our design teams, candidates will:

  • Provide our partners with system design options including product, material and code research.
  • Design and document specific systems fully coordinated and integrated with all other building systems, as well as the building architectural and structural systems from the schematic level through construction administration.
  • Employ sustainable design principles and best practice approach to provide clients with the desired outcome in an efficient and sustainable manner.
  • Work together with the project manager, discipline lead engineer and all team members on assigned engineering tasks assuring technical expectations, schedule and manpower budgets are met.

 The following are desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Experience in the design and specification of one or more of the system types described above.
  • An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or an Engineering related curriculum.
  • Having passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit experience desirable.
  • Thorough understanding of the coordination aspects of all design disciplines, and how they impact the project.
  • Team-oriented problem solving skills and decision making ability.
  • Ability to organize work and multi-task.
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic and flexible.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
  • Previous co-op or 6 months experience in Architectural Engineering industry. 

ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

The ideal candidate has the following experience, education or qualifications:
  • Experience in engineering and designing any of the following electrical systems:
    • Power Distribution Systems, including medium and low voltage distribution systems, standby power applications, load calculations, short circuit and coordination studies, arc flash hazard.
    • Lighting Systems, including calculations, lighting controls, luminaire selections and architecturally integrated lighting systems.
    • Auxiliary Systems, including fire alarm systems, voice/data structured cabling systems, access control, CCTV and other low voltage systems design.
  • Having passed the Fundamental of Engineering exam, PE preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Thorough understanding of the coordination aspects of all design disciplines and how they impact the project.
  • Team-oriented problem solving skills and decision-making ability.
  • Ability to organize work and multi-task.
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic and flexible.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or an engineering-related curriculum from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience specific to building systems. 

MECHANICAL DESIGNER

PLUMBING DESIGNER/ENGINEER

Seeking highly motivated individual with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in plumbing design and AutoCAD who is willing to grow and apply their skills in the design of plumbing and fire protection systems in commercial, education, healthcare and laboratory facilities.  Successful candidate will be a team player and will excel at problem solving, decision-making, and multitasking. 

CAD SPECIALIST

Essential job duties:

  • Plot drawings according to Company standards
  • Set up jobs for design team
  • Convert drawings from client to be used by the design team
  • Picking up red marks made by engineers
  • Follow the appropriate project processes and adhere to company standards
  • Prepare drawings of existing mechanical and electrical systems
  • Making copies of original drawings

The ideal candidate has the following experience, education or qualifications:

  • AutoCAD basic - intermediate classes
  • Must be interested in the architectural and/or engineering field
  • Must be responsible and available to work overtime
  • Revit knowledge is a plus
  • Good communication skills and able to multi-task

FALL 2017 ENGINEERING CO-OPS

As a college co-op at PBA, you will experience hands-on learning in our full-service, award-winning engineering firm in Troy, Michigan. PBA is led by qualified professionals skilled in the fields on mechanical and electrical engineering, energy management, commissioning, communication technologies, and architectural lighting design.

Based on your career path, you will also assist engineers in the design of building mechanical systems including HVAC, temperature controls and plumbing or with building electrical systems, including lighting and load calculations. The overall experience will provide you with the opportunity to learn about the exciting field of MEP engineering and the tools used in the professional building design and construction industry.

Requirements:

Students should be enrolled in an accredited four year college, pursuing an undergraduate degree in the mechanical or electrical engineering field, and able to demonstrate a basic understanding of engineering fundamentals.

HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT 

Position performs a variety of duties in assisting in the administration of various areas of human resources.  Assists HR Manager with various special projects and tasks including:

  • Responsible for multiple aspects of recruiting including job postings, phone screening, interview scheduling, tracking applicants and career fair participation.
  • Processes background verifications and prepares offer letters
  • Responsible for on-boarding process for new hires, including benefit enrollments
  • Assists with benefit administration and annual open enrollment processes
  • Reconciles benefit statements and process for payment
  • Coordinating employee review process including tracking, scheduling and distribution
  • Performs internal customer services functions with employee requests and questions
  • Maintains employee files and updates database as needed
  • Tracks data for various compliance reporting including ACA, EEO-1, OSHA
  • Processes exit paperwork including benefit termination and tracks COBRA
  • Maintains HIPAA compliance
  • Participates in the company employee engagement committee 

The ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in HR field
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.  Strong ability to create and maintain Excel spreadsheets.

IT SUPPORT SPECIALIST 

This position provides support to end-users and assists with a variety of administrative and technical work in the installation and maintenance of the PBA Information Technology Systems. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide first and second tier support to internal staff and assist in educating staff in the use of computer and mobile device hardware and software. Investigate software problems; perform diagnostic testing and recommend or implement problem resolution.  Must be able to work independently to identify, research and resolve end-user issues.

Assist with the administration and maintenance of server and data network infrastructure, voice network, system backups, desktop computers and other portable communication devices. Assist with IT infrastructure and process and procedure documentation.

The following are desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

Candidates for consideration will have completed or be in the process of completing a degree in related field from an accredited college or university. Familiarity with Windows operating system, software and driver installation and configuration, Active Directory and NTFS security principles is required.  Ideal candidate is capable of self-learning using publicly available resources and product documentation.
