Peter Basso Associates' experienced mechanical engineers design mechanical systems that satisfy building owners and occupants – they are efficient, and they maintain a desirable environment.

Our ability to listen drives our design excellence. Peter Basso Associates' mechanical engineers strive to understand the owner’s needs and expectations early in the project, then identify a direction that meets those needs, balancing construction costs, maintenance costs and operational costs. Our mechanical engineers work closely with facility staff to integrate their design standards and equipment preferences. We work closely with the architect to document key elements that might impact engineering design, eliminating surprises later in the project.

The Peter Basso Associates design process involves senior mechanical engineers in brainstorming/review sessions that are done at the start of the project and at key milestones. Using our collective mechanical engineering expertise, we create our best ideas. A review team is maintained throughout the project, providing consistency from inception of design intent through completion of mechanical engineering construction documents. Budget construction cost estimates are reviewed and confirmed at each milestone.

The 31,000 sf Fine Arts facility on the campus of Saint Clair Community College (SC4) was originally completed in 1976. Therefore, the existing mechanical and electrical systems had reached the end of their useful life and were in need of replacement. As part of a two-phased performance contract with Siemens Building Technologies, PBA provided basic mechanical and electrical design engineering services for the replacement of the SC4 Fine Arts Building’s select HVAC systems, including its existing constant volume, gas-fired, Dx cooling multi-zone HVAC equipment, with new energy efficient systems. Learn More...
