Marquette, MI
Utilized by the University as well as the community, The Northern Center holds the largest conference center space in Marquette County and serves as a key gathering space on the campus of NMU. Many regional events are accommodated with the variety of meeting spaces, all supported by a full-service catering kitchen.
In addition to the conference center, the facility houses a cafeteria-style restaurant, the Barnes and Noble College Bookstore, a US Post Office branch, Center of Student Enrichment, student art gallery, and other spaces necessary for student related functions.
PBA provided MEP engineering design services to upgrade the existing 150,000 square foot facility with renovations and an addition. Project goals included the development of a flexible, state-of-the-art conference space, modernization of the exterior and site, and enhancement of the food service operation, including a student activities space/sports bar. Spaces not impacted by the new construction received new technology upgrades and finish upgrades to complete the renovation.
