As the existing facility neared 25 years of age, MSU conducted a building assessment of the MSU Breslin Center, MSU’s NCAA basketball arena, that helped in identifying critical repairs, needed maintenance, cost-saving and cosmetic upgrades.
Renovations to the existing Breslin Center included safety and security measures, sustainability initiatives, upgrading restrooms and concession stands, and updated chiller units as well as upgrades to the building’s mechanical and electrical systems.
At the project’s center is the construction of a 30,000 square foot addition that houses the MSU Basketball Hall of History. Located on the southeast side of the Breslin Center, the hall highlights team and individual accomplishments of the men’s and women’s basketball programs.
The renovation also included an expansion and improvements to the concession areas and concourses; improvements to the bathroom facilities; upgrades to the passenger and freight elevators; and improvements to the exterior entrances and parking lots.
“The ability to showcase our university and basketball programs’ history will be one of the key and noticeable features once the project is complete. In addition, former and current student-athletes will have an opportunity to prepare in one of the nation’s finest basketball complexes.”
