MEP Engineering for MSU Clinical C-Wing HVAC Upgrade

PBA Provided MEP for MSU Clinical C-Wing Animal Facility

Peter Basso Associates was contracted directly to Michigan State University to provide MEP engineering services to upgrade the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system in the Clinical Center C-Wing as well as provide additional procedure space for researchers.

Strategies employed during the design phase to control costs included:

  • Close coordination with user group, physical plant engineers and design-assist contractors in value engineering process.
  • Cost and payback data were used in VE process.

Adjustments were made to the design based on constructability feedback from design-assist contractors.

PBA provided MEP services for the following:

  • Major mechanical, electrical and ventilation upgrades and replacements
  • Addition of life-safety systems
  • ADA code-required modifications
  • Lighting upgrades
  • Replacement of existing plumbing
