The Northern Center is where Northern Michigan University comes together. As the largest conference center in Marquette County, it hosts university functions and regional events alike, with a range of meeting spaces supported by a full-service catering kitchen.
It's also a hub of daily student life. Under one roof are a cafeteria-style restaurant, the Barnes & Noble College bookstore, a U.S. Post Office branch, the Center for Student Enrichment, the student-run radio station, a student art gallery, an alumni suite, and other student services.
PBA provided MEP engineering design for the renovation and addition to the 150,000-square-foot facility, including upgrades to its primary infrastructure. The project set out to create flexible conference space, modernize the exterior and site, and improve the food service operation with a new student activities space and sports bar. Areas outside the new construction received technology and finish upgrades to round out the renovation.
