IT Help Desk Specialist

Peter Basso Associates, Inc., a leading Mechanical and Electrical Engineering consulting firm, is in search of an IT Help Desk Specialist to join our team in Troy, Michigan! Among other responsibilities, this professional will provide support to end users and assist with a variety of administrative and technical work in the installation and maintenance of the PBA Information Technology Systems.
About the Job
As our IT Help Desk Specialist, you will provide first class support to a dynamic staff of engineering professionals. Reporting to the IT department head and working under the general direction of the IT Systems Administrator, you’ll be responsible for managing the assignment of hardware to users; providing support and educating staff in the use of computers and mobile devices hardware and software. You will also work independently to resolve end-user issues and develop and maintain end-user device management procedures and troubleshooting hardware and software issues. In addition to end-user support, you may have the opportunity to assist with the administration and maintenance of Active Directory objects, server and data network infrastructure, voice network, system backups, and more.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have the following experience, education, and qualifications:

  • Associates degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 2+ years of experience providing end-user hardware and software support in a highly available environment with over 50 users.
  • Ability to investigate software and/or hardware issues; perform diagnostic testing; and apply critical thinking to resolve problems.
  • Must be capable of self-learning using publicly available resources and product documentation to identify, research and resolve end-user issues.
  • Familiarity with Windows Operating System, Active Directory, NTFS security principles and fundamental networking concepts (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, SSL, etc.) is required.
  • Experience or knowledge in Group Policy, Windows command shell and PowerShell scripting strongly desired.
  • Creating documentation of internal processes and for end-user educational purposes.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 Administration a plus.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours as required.
