MEP Projects for Sports & Recreation

Peter Basso Associates provides mechanical engineering and electrical engineering services for college and university athletic competition and student sports and recreation facilities, community recreation, and wellness facilities for corporate building owners and hospitals. These facilities include both interior and exterior spaces such as competition courts, running tracks, weight rooms, fitness studios, locker rooms, multipurpose rooms, classrooms, ticketing offices, concessions, conference and meeting room space, as well as administrative and office spaces. The engineering considerations often parallel those of entertainment venues:

  • The need to accommodate a large number of people for a relatively short duration, with associated air quality and thermal comfort impacts.
  • Life safety concerns associated with assembly spaces such as emergency and egress lighting.
  • Integration of highly controlled lighting systems for both house and performance spaces.
  • Critical acoustical considerations include controlling HVAC noise, vibration and equipment.
  • Flexibility.
  • High level of integration with audio-visual systems.
  • Permanent facilities for repeated temporary application for road shows and satellite uplink for broadcasting.
