The Henry Ford Medical Center Ambulatory Surgery Center provides the necessary space and equipment for patients who need surgical procedures, yet do not require an overnight stay. Design parameters for the construction and renovation of these facilities follow the same strict guidelines as they do for hospitals.
PBA provided MEP engineering design services to incorporate a 20,000 square foot ambulatory surgery center into a previously renovated medical center. Scope of work included full MEP and fire protection system design services to serve the renovated spaces, and design for electrical power and raceways to support technology systems and cabling.
The phased renovation of approximately 20,000 sf of floor space included 3 operating rooms, a procedure room, sterile processing, pre- and post-op beds, and related support spaces. The project was a continuation of the challenge taken on by Henry Ford Health System to convert a 100,000 square foot automotive parts supplier headquarters building into a Class A outpatient medical center. The renovation resulted in lower costs for the owner and improved patient convenience.
